Trot Lovers / Lovers of Music Episode 1 Korean Drama Fashion Review
This drama is probably my introduction to trot. Lol. And Ji Hyun Woo. I still haven’t watched his drama prior to his mandatory military enlistment. But true to the drama’s title, this seems to have a lot of trot influence.
Apink’s Jung Eun Ji plays the female lead character Choi Choon Hee, a young girl who loves doing marathon. She loves the sport so much that she’s willing to drive herself to her limit doing it. She forced herself so much that she fainted in the middle of the marathon and got kicked out of the team because of it. She ended up coaching other marathoners instead.
Ji Hyun Woo plays Jang Joon Hyun, a cocky singer who draws a crowd wherever he goes. He graces the same marathon Choon Hee is in with his presence, much to the delight of the fans. But in reality, Joon Hyun hates anything related to fitness activities. He switched with another runner wearing similar clothes just before finishing the race and made everyone think he was the one who finished it.
I cringed at the sight of his attire. Florals as a sportswear? On a guy? Lol. It would have looked acceptable (because hey I have an open mind when it comes to fashion) but that pair of black of tights is a deal breaker.

One person witnessed Joon Hyun’s scheme though: Choon Hee. She demanded he give back the medal given to him for finishing the race. Joon Hyun refused to give it back but she pestered him and even went after his car so he had to cave in.
Choon Hee comes from a good family. Her father owns a convenience store. She also has a younger sister.
Unfortunately though, we’re not going to see much from her in the fashion department. Choon Hee is sporty through and through. We can only hope her style improves in the next couple of episodes.
Get Choi Choon Hee’s Backpack:
Choon Hee’s wearing the Converse Jac Purcell LTT Ox sneakers in this outfit. Her jacket is from James Jeans, her inner shirt is from Eight Seconds.
Joon Hyun went on a live television program and while being interviewed, someone called in. The person calling started telling a story about certain thick-skinned individuals who cheat on marathons. Joon Hyun immediately recognizes the story and panics a little, worried that the caller will name him the person in the story. The caller cut off the call though.
Jang Joon Hyun’s jacket is from Lord and Tailor, his shirt is from Antony Morato and his pants are from Zara Homme.
Sporty, tennis-inspired, collared shorts are pretty trendy these days so I have no objections with Choon Hee’s choice of top. She meets Jo Geun Woo at the sports center she works at. Geun Woo is a member who seems to be a little clutter-brained as he keeps picking up things that look like his own and misplacing the things that he does own. He picked up a phone that isn’t his and asked Choon Hee to return it to the owner.

It’s turning out to be an eventful day for Choon Hee. Seol Tae Song, Jang Joon Hyun’s personal assistant, meets up with her in behalf of his boss, and tells her to keep her end of the bargain and not divulge the marathon incident.
Choon Hee isn’t the caller but Joon Hyun doesn’t believe her. He vows to make her life miserable.

When she returned the phone Geun Woo accidentally picked up, this made her suspicious in the eyes of her boss. She was wrongfully accused of the petty thievery going on in the gym and was dismissed from her job.
And to cap off her misery, she gets a call that their convenience store is being stripped off of its contents by the people her dad owed money to. Choon Hee tried contacting her dad but to no avail.
Meanwhile, things are going well in Joon Hyun’s career and personal life. He signed up with a new management company, Shine Star. He also seems to have a romantic relationship with Park Soo In, a trainee in the company, also a famous singer’s daughter. He even gave her a song he composed so she can use it for her debut song.
Choon Hee got home to find her sister waiting outside their apartment. Their dad is still missing. To cheer her up, she performed a song, trot, of course. Choon Hee is in her element when singing trot. While performing, someone is watching them from afar.
Joon Hyun wore this outfit when he visited his former agency. He dresses well, as befits his character.

Fingers All Over Tee, $48.00
Joon Hyun’s red leather jacket is from Royal Sunday, his pants are from Rick Owens and his shoes are from Studs War.
Their debts are piling up so Choon Hee has no choice but to go look for a job. She started by going back to the sports center and begged her former boss to take her back. He wouldn’t though and Choon Hee blamed it on Joon Hyun, who seems to have a close relationship with her boss. She also remembered Joon Hyun threatening to make her life miserable.
Choon Hee’s casual attire is unremarkable but you can’t miss the statement muscle tee!

She calls up Tae Song, who refuses to divulge Joon Hyun’s whereabouts. Also, Tae Song and Joon Hyun both seem to have no qualms in wearing florals.
Joon Hyun is with a girl but the girl seems to have an agenda. She used Joon Hyun’s phone to text Choon Hee about his location right after sending a public message containing Joon Hyun’s photos. Choon Hee barged into the room and got herself in a predicament as reporters have swarmed in the hotel.
They tried to escape but Joon Hyun got hit by the waiting van’s door and fell to the floor, giving the reporters a chance to take photos of him in his indecent state.

It was a quick downfall for Joon Hyun. He became persona non grata everywhere he goes what with his most recent scandal and all.
Joon Hyun’s shirt is from:
This girl sure has a collection of boxy shirts! But you know how I feel about boxy shirts. I love them – but when worn with something feminine for a bottom.
Not that he has fallen from grace, Choon Hee has nothing to do but don a polka-dotted shirt and eat junk food while watching television.
His shirt is from Sakun.
He also gets rebuffed by Park Soo In.
He forces himself in his current agency’s office, despite being restrained by employees. The boss let him in but gave him a special task: find a girl named Choi Choon Hee and bring her to the agency.
The grey-green suit works great on Joon Hyun but it was the junk food-printed shirt that made his look interesting.

This drama reminds me so much of other dramas. Joon Hyun’s fall from stardom is similar to Cheon Song Yi’s predicament in You Who Came From The Stars. Choi Choon Hee’s family and financial issues are so much like Dream High’s Hye Mi’s issues and her being recruited to be a singer seems a lot like Lee Soon Shin’s case in Lee Soon Shin is the best. So while the actors are excellent, I can’t really say this drama stands out a lot in terms of plot. But things are proceeding well and there are no dull moments so I’m definitely watching the next episodes!
