The Producers Episode 1 Review
The Producers takes pride in their fresh mockumentary format. If you feel a bit fazed by the first episode, you’re not alone. It’s not your run-of-the-mill drama and it definitely steers away from the typical kdrama plot.
The show first takes us to Tak Ye Jin’s life. She’s a head PD at the station’s music bank. And because this is the first day of work of the new recruits, some camera people are following PDs around. Too bad they caught the minor accident Ye Jin caused on camera. She scraped a car parked too closely beside hers when she was about to get out.
It’s really reassuring to find Gong Hyo Jin’s eclectic style in this drama. In every drama she’s in, her stylists always manage to inject some of her real style without compromising her character.
This suede jacket is so trendy right now. Everything suede is. And those rings seem like they haven’t left GHJ’s fingers since It’s Okay That’s Love.

The orientation of the new recruits takes us into the world of entertainment. For starters, here’s TaeTiSeo making a cameo. Do these top stars really at the station’s cafeteria?
This earthy dress does not bore. And for a first outfit, Ye Jin didn’t disappoint. Her personality showed in the entire ensemble.

Ye Jin orients the new recruits as to how a music bank is done. But after switching cameras, they saw Seung Chan’s noona having a moment with one of the top PDs in KBS, Ra Joon Mo.
The noona remembers Seung Chan a little but not in the way Seung Chan wanted.
He takes out some of his disappoint on Ra Joon Mo, who he had a chance encounter with at the bathroom.
Ra Joon Mo is the main PD of the variety show, 2 Days, 1 Night. It’s currently not doing great in ratings and everyone’s at a loss as to how to boost the show.
Ye Jin was briefing the recruits when one of the staff informed her that the idol Cindy refuses to change clothes. She’s wearing sheer clothing, you see, and music bank thinks it’s too racy.
Cindy is one of this generation’s top singers. She’s revered by fans but her cold and often snobbish personality comes through.
Ye Jin confronts Cindy about the necessity of wearing more decent clothing but Cindy was adamant about the dress. She said if she’s causing a lot of trouble, she’s not going to do the show anymore. This caused Ye Jin to reign in on the temper and persuade Cindy to do the show but put a jacket on to compromise.

Cindy agreed to put the jacket on but ended up getting rid of it during the first part of her performance. Take Ye Jin couldn’t believe her gall.
Ye Jin has been contacting the owner of the expensive car but he hasn’t been answering. Turned out the owner is Baek Seung Chan. He wasn’t able to answer because Ye Jin has been on to him the entire day, prohibiting him from using his phone during work hours.
A plot twist revealed that Tak Ye Jin and Ra Joon Mo live in the same house. They sit in silence while they ate and contemplated about their bad day.
As for Seung Chan, his family congratulated him for becoming a Producer.
