Prime Minister and I Episode 1 Fashion Review:
Kdramas are quite fond of May-December love affair storylines. But in most cases, the woman is the older one. Prime Minister and I is the opposite. Yoona plays Nam Da Jung, a persistent reporter who works for Scandal News. The news company is only interested in getting the latest gossip and scandal of celebrities. In fact, Nam Da Jung is trailing a celebrity when she met Prime Minister nominee, Kwon Yool (played by Lee Beom Soo. Obviously, Kwon Yool is a much older guy.
The pilot episode started with Kwon Yool introducing his new wife, Nam Da Jung. They both smile before Kwon Yool’s subjects but at the end of this scene, you can see both of their smiles waver when their eyes meet. Clearly, something is amiss in this relationship.
This is Nam Da Jung in action. She pretty much has no qualms climbing roofs and stuff to get a clear paparazzi shot. Kwon Yool caught her and mistook her for a reporter taking a scoop about him and his candidacy.
Scandal News is actually run by these three. Da Jung is assisted by Hee Chul (played by Lee Min Ho) and they both answer to this boss. News of Kwon Yool’s candidacy is already all over the papers. Da Jung finally recognizes the man from last night as the Prime Minister nominee. His boss assigned her to dig dirt about him.
Nam Da Jung’s style is very modern. Because of her job, she keeps things low-key and comfortable by using jeans and layers of clothing. But her trademark seems to be her ripped jeans.
Nam Da Jung joins the throng of reporters trying to get ahold of Kwon Yool. My eyes immediately zeroed in on her glasses. Isn’t it cute?

But Da Jung isn’t interested in throwing politics-related questions. She threw a question that silenced everyone in the room.

Yoona’s inner cardigan is from Sonia Rykiel and her shoes are from Helena and Kristie.
Failing to get an answer, she even hopped on to her cute bicycle, threw on her cute helmet and trailed after the Prime Minister nominee. Kwon Yool entertained her for a while.

Yoona’s shoes are from Helena and Kristie but it doesn’t seem to be available online.
After being annoyed by her questions, Kwon Yool decided to throw her in jail.
This is Kang In Ho (played by Yoon Si Yoon). He is the head security of Kwon Yool. And like everyone who played head security before, we’ll see him a lot in suits.
This is Seo Hye Joo (played by Chae Jung An). She works for Kwon Yool and obviously pines for him. Her style is work chic but she can also be seen in more modern pieces.
I hope we can see her more often in clothes other than power suits because otherwise, this will become a boring drama, fashion-wise.
Da Jung frequently visits her dad in an institution where he is being cared of. He has dementia and is progressing really quickly.
We see more of Da Jung’s casual styling here. It’s rare to see denim jackets in the midst of winter so it’s really nice to see how Da Jung styled it. She wore it with a sweater underneath.
Get Yoona’s Inner Shirt:
Yoona’s denim shirt is from Beaker (can’t find it online).
Da Jung took “digging dirt” literally as she lurks around Kwon Yool’s house. Yoona can pretty much wear anything. I love this tartan jacket and skirt pairing, especially with the overall styling. It has a preppy vibe to it but tamed down a bit by the ankle boots.

Looks like Kang In Ho takes his job seriously because he spotted Da Jung digging through the garbage. Da Jung pretended not to understand him by breaking into a Chinese song.

Yoon Si Yoon’s pants are also from Cambridge Members, his shirt is from Clifford, and his shoes are from Esquire.
There’s ruckus in Kwon Yool’s household. His youngest son went missing and can’t be found. We also get to see Hye Joo don a pretty electric blue coat in this scene.
The youngest son, Man Se, took off with a reporter but Da Jung rescued him. She bonded with him before attempting to take him off. Man Se insisted on going to the park where they were eventually caught by Kwon Yool.
Without even letting Da Jung explain, Kwon Yool immediately blamed her for Man Se’s disappearance. Little did they know that they are being watched.
Kwon Yool chastised Man Se and the rest of her children the next day. He eventually found out from Man Se that Da Jung wasn’t to blame for his disappearance.
After being unfairly blamed the other night, Da Jung refuses to do anything with Kwon Yool. But she later got a call from Kwon Yool’s camp that he will consent to do an interview.
How much do you love Yoona’s turtleneck sweater here? Chunky turtleneck sweaters that virtually drown your neck are a big thing this winter.

Let’s not fail to include Hee Chul. His style adds more interest to this drama.
To make up for chiding her the other night, Da Jung was granted interview with Kwon Yool. The other reporters couldn’t believe their eyes. Da Jung even dressed up for the occasion. The ripped jeans are still there but she pared it down a little with a yellow button down shirt and a double-breasted coat. Hee Chul is also looking quite spiffy in that leather jacket and checkered shirt.
Get Yoona’s Bag:
Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Bag, $277.00 (currently out of stock)
Yoona’s coat is from Beaker, her yellow shirt is from ACNE, her pants are from Sandro and her shoes are from Helena and Kristie.
Kang In Ho greeted them and escorted them to Kwon Yool.
Yoon Si Yoon’s suit is from T.I for Men, his inner shirt is from Yezak and his tie is from Cambridge Members.
Here’s a better look of Yoona’s outfit. The yellow looks striking next to the camel tone of her coat.
In come Kwon Yool and posse. Chae Jung An loses her powersuit in favor of this chic top and pencil skirt combo. That collar saved the outfit from being too ho-hum.
Da Jung spends her free time daydreaming.
In Da Jung’s dream, her article of Kwon Yool gets a lot of hits. She earns the favor of her boss, Kwon Yool and even In Ho.
Looks like the overall trend still isn’t over yet. She wore it over her skinny jeans. This look would only work if the overall is short enough and if you have legs as skinny as Yoona’s. Otherwise, it would just look over-the-top.
Get Yoona’s Sweater:

Yoon Si Yoon’s inner shirt is from Zio Songzio.
Her reality is entirely different. Rather than recognition for her article, she gets to star in a news article instead. Someone took a paparazzi shot of her altercation with Kwon Yool the other night and sent it to the press.
Get Yoona’s Hoodie:
Thom Browne Hoodie, 46,000 Won
Da Jung evades some of the reporters camping out at Kwon Yool’s office but there is one particularly nasty and tenacious report trailing her.
Although I wasn’t too keen on the pairing, the story line made me want to watch the second episode. Yoona’s acting seems to have improved too. What about you guys, are you looking forward to the next episodes?
