The Master’s Sun Episode 1 Review and Fashion Recap
The Master’s Sun is one of those dramas I watched initially because of some of the actors/actresses. I’m a Seo In Guk fan so I knew I had to put this on my “to-watch” list. Now, after 10 episodes (at the time of writing this), I’m hooked!
This is one of those surprisingly gripping dramas with an excellent cast. The story circulates around an eccentric female named Tae Gong Shil (played by Gong Hyo Jin). After surviving an accident in the past, she has developed the unwanted ability of seeing ghosts. Ghosts frequently appear to her to ask for her help. Tae Gong Shil is often scared and wary of these ghosts but will eventually help them just to get them off her back.
Tae Gong Shil is often seen in robe/hospital gown-looking ensembles. At the beginning of the episode, she had on this oversized button down shirt worn with tattered boyfriend jeans and slippers.

Joo Joong Won (played by So Ji Sub) is the typical chaebol – arrogant, indifferent and handsome. Joong Won doesn’t believe in the supernatural but the supernatural is about to be introduced to his life with the entrance of Tae Gong Shil.
Tae Gong Shil was hiking on a rainy day after helping the old lady haunting one of the rooms in the building she lives in when Joong Won’s car passed by.
Gong Shil ended up riding in Joong Won’s car. She also discovered that whenever she touches Joong Won, ghosts leave her alone. This made her curious about him.
After finding out that he is the CEO of Kingdom Mall, she went there seeking for him. But while in there, she encountered a female ghost. It turned out that the female ghost is the deceased wife of the famous soccer player contracted by Kingdom Mall to be one of their endorsers.

The ghost didn’t want to leave Gong Shil alone and asked her to convey a message to her husband. But before Gong Shil was able to do that, she was stopped by Joong Won, who thought she was a fan trying to get close to the soccer player.
Like many male protagonists in Korean dramas, they dressed Joong Won up in colorful clothes. How they pull it off so well, I’d never begin to guess. He looks good even in pale pink blazer, cream pants and lavender top.
Kang Woo (played by Seo In Guk) is apparently the third wheel in this drama. He plays the role of an expert security personnel who just got hired at Kingdom Mall. He moves in Gong Shil’s apartment where he eventually met her at the rooftop.
Kang Woo prefers dark-colored clothes just like this ensemble he is wearing

Gong Shil definitely takes casual to the next level. It can’t get more unglamorous than a pair of boyfriend jeans, a loose shirt and a pair of Birkenstocks! And yes, Birkenstocks are so back in fashion.

Meet Tae Yi Ryung (Kim Yoo Ri). She is the fiancée of Hye Sung, the soccer player. They’re about to get married when Hye Sung gets these letters containing his wedding day photo with Mi Kyung, his ex-wife who hasn’t contacted him and severed ties with him years ago. Thinking that it was Mi Kyung who was blackmailing him with these letters, he asked his manager to find her.
Tae Gong Shil went to their wedding to straighten out Hye Sung’s wrong assumptions. Surprisingly, Gong Shil is acquainted with the bride. It turned out that they were high school classmates. Tae Yi Ryung only invited her to gloat about her accomplishments. In high school Gong Shil was always the more popular one.
After Gong Shil delivered the message to Hye Sung, the latter finally understood what happened to Mi Kyung. He went to the spot where they buried the time capsule.

The Master’s Sun Episode 2 Review and Fashion Recap
The Master’s Sun Episode 2 Review: In order to be close to her ghost repellent, Tae Gong Shil sought a job at Kingdom Mall. She was accepted as a part of the cleaning team.
A strange rumor is also going viral on the internet. A photo of three girls taken in front of Kingdom Mall was uploaded. What’s strange is the ghost that appeared behind them. Everyone thought the ghost is the deceased Cha Hee Joo. She was Joong Won’s childhood sweetheart who died in a car fire when they were young.
But after seeing Cha Hee Joo’s ghost, Tae Gong Shil knows the girl in the photo is different. She told as much to Joong Won who still couldn’t make himself believe the existence of ghost. But the ghost story is causing a ruckus in his mall and his personal life.
Tae Gong Shil investigated the matter and found three girls lurking around the mall at night. She then saw the fourth girl, the ghost in the photo. She told Joong Won she found the real ghost and they went to the school where she apparently went.
It turned out that the ghost was a high school student. She was friends with three other girls who excelled in class. Because she was clumsy, she almost always got her friends in trouble. Her friends resented her for that so they alienated her. The girl got into a car accident on the way home after being shunned by her friends.
The Master’s Sun Episode 2 Fashion Recap
Tae Gong Shil looks her usual glum and unadorned self in this grey shirt and tattered jeans. She wears the cutest tattered jeans though. This one is from Lap.

You can’t see it in these photos but she was wearing these Keds loafers in this outfit.
Avocado green and oxblood red? An unlikely color combination and one I wouldn’t deck on myself but on Joong Won, this actually looks great. Ugh, Korean stylists and their stellar color-combining skills.
I have eyes for Tae Yi Ryung’s vertical stripes jacket. And she drapes it like a pro.
I love it when high school students are part of a drama. They usually have the cutest back packs!
Tae Gong Shil samples the plaid trend with this dress. Take a chance with your drop waist dresses too and pair them up with a plain-colored shirt or long-sleeved top.
I want to shop in Joong Won’s closet. Or borrow some of his colored blazers.
