The Heirs Episode 1 Review:
Being a huge fan of Lee Min Ho, this drama was at the top of my priority dramas this season. Heck, who can resist a nice non-period, non-historical Lee Min Ho drama? Frankly, I’m still a little hung over City Hunter. First reaction to his role? He is finally taking on a role that suits his age. They almost always try to pass him off as older in most of his dramas.
Anyway, The Heirs’ plot revolves around the privileged lives of the cast. As the title suggests, they are meant to inherit the family fortune when the time comes. The male protagonist, Kim Tan (played by Lee Min Ho), is currently studying in states. As a kid, he was exiled there by his older brother, saying that he has no expectations of Tan so long as he does not come back to Korea. So Kim Tan did as his brother suggested, played and partied without restrictions.
Our female protagonist, Cha Eun Sang (played by Park Shin Hye), has a completely different lifestyle. She works different jobs during the day to make ends meet for her and her mother. Her mother, who is mute, works as a maid in Kim Tan’s house in Korea. Their last resort is Eun Sang’s older sister who is supposed to be studying in America and meant to come back to help them out.
Eun Sang has a childhood friend, the dashing Yoon Chang Young, played by CNBLUE’s Kang Min Hyuk, who often tails her. They’re pretty close, much to the regret of Chang Young’s girlfriend, Lee Bo Na (played by F(x)’s Krystal). Chang Young and Bo Na are both rich so Eun Sang is out of their league.
Unfortunately for Eun Sang, her strings of bad fortune will remain for a while. Her older sister doesn’t even bother to communicate with them, prompting her to schedule a trip to the US to check on her.
Her sister actually quit school and is now living with her boyfriend and working as a waitress in a bar/café frequented by Kim Tan. When she saw Eun Sang with her luggage, she was surprised and angered. She took the money Eun Sang prepared and ran off while Eun Sang cries in despair. Kim Tan witnessed the whole drama. His friend suddenly showed up, saw what Kim Tan is looking at and immediately went to Eun Sang. He noticed a pack of powdery stuff in her luggage, grabs it and went away with it. Naturally, Eun Sang went after him. The guy sniffed the powdery stuff, which turned out to be powdered beans and collapsed. Turned out he has an allergy for that stuff. Kim Tan helped Eun Sang rush him to the hospital.
While in there, a police came and talked to Eun Sang. Because the powder is under suspicion, he kept Eun Sang’s passport to prevent her from going home. Kim Tan took her to her sister’s place but she wasn’t there. She ended up going home to Kim Tan’s luxurious house.
The Heirs Episode 1 Fashion Recap:
Because Kim Tan is projected as a surfer boy, he is often dressed in casual clothes. What I like about the styling for Lee Min Ho’s character is that he still looks polished and very put together. I like this clean, almost nautical look.

Park Shin Hye’s character is aptly styled. She is often seen in a shirt or a tank top and paired with jeans, button down top and her trusty converse sneakers. Denim shirts also seem to be a staple in her wardrobe just like this one she wore in this scene.

Kim Tan’s fiancée, Rachel Yoo (played by Kim Ji Won), has an enviable wardrobe! I’d love to get my hands on this dress that reminds me so much of Valentino. This is just one of the many things I want to steal from her wardrobe.
In retrospect, Kim Ji Won has been stereotyped in the stylish and more beautiful female protagonist in her dramas. She always has a great style in her roles.

Kim Woo Bin plays the role of the second male protagonist, Choi Young Do. Apparently, his dad will marry Rachel Yoo’s mom so they will eventually become step siblings.
Anyway, his style runs on the rugged. It’s the closest thing to a biker boy style this drama is going to get.
I love Kang Min Hyuk’s preppy style here. He looks so good in that white shirt. Never mind that he gets forced styling tips from his girlfriend so they will coordinate. His shoes are from Vans.

Speaking of Krystal, her style is also a bit preppy. Here she is rocking a short pencil skirt with a collared top and a short knitted top. She also wears a lot of oxford shoes. I personally like Krystal’s style more than Kim Ji Won in this drama. There’s a lot of school girl vibe here.

Skirt: Pierre Balmain
Red Clutch: Celine
Celine Knotted Lambskin Clutch
Shoes: Zara

Lee Min Ho in casual jeans and a button down top is cute. Him in a pair of denim cut offs is decidedly cuter! Kim Tan’s shirt is from a newly-launched Italian brand, Perdrehaleine.

Does anyone else wish they have a room like this not because it is big but because of all those clothes, shoes and bags? I admit, unabashedly, that I do! Long-sleeved dresses and their vintage appeal are quite becoming on Kim Ji Won. Love the maroon shade of this dress.
And then there’s her travel garb. Who wears a pristine white dress while travelling all the way to the US? Only Rachel Yoo, I suppose. Or maybe she changed after getting off the plane? Whatever. She rocks that ruffled dress and I have serious envy for her mint and white shoes.
