That Winter, The Wind Blows Review And Fashion Recap: Episode 16 (End)

  • That Winter, The Wind Blows Review Episode 16: Right before Oh Young committed suicide, Soo called her and told her to just listen to him first or watch the video he taped in the green house. But Young did not heed him. Oh Soo arrived just in time to save Oh Young. They called Moo Cheol’s surgeon sister and she treated Young.

When Young was saved, the surgeon broke the news to Oh Soo that Moo Cheol died en route to the hospital. Soo was saddened.

He stayed with Oh Young all night as Lawyer Jang was still on his way from a business trip. Oh Young woke up to find him in her room. She sneaked out and went to the green house and listened to the video Oh Soo taped for her.

The video and Oh Soo’s message to her allayed her a bit and she forgave Soo for what he did. But she only wants him to stick around after she has gotten her surgery. This made Oh Soo really happy.

While Young is preparing for surgery, Oh Soo is also prepping up for his big gambling moment. He won but President Kim played dirty by having people follow Jin Sung’s family and threatening to kill them. If Jin Sung doesn’t kill Oh Soo, his family will die.

Jin Sung has no choice but to do the deed.

After that, months have already passed. The surgery on Young is already done. She seems to be doing fine but still with her blind friends. On the way to a café, she stopped by a walkway full of cherry trees.

She went to the café alone and waited for someone to serve. It turned out that the person who served her is Oh Soo. He has been working there for some time. Oh Young, with her improved eyesight can already see him.

If this is what Oh Young looks like when she is sick and just got treated for slashing her wrists, I wonder what she looks like all dolled up and dressed to the nines. But I love her floral dress.

Her cardigan is from a company called Organic by John Patrick and her floral dress is from Jill Stuart.

This wouldn’t be complete without a Hee Sun outfit which is, typically, heavily layered. She is the only one in this series capable of donning yellow (or any other color for that matter).

Pop art! I wanted to see more of Hee Sun’s shirt. Nothing like a cute pair of pop art/comic print shirt to spice up a casual outfit.

I’m a fan of Oh Young’s blouse with its ribbon detail at the neckline. Very sleek, simple and versatile. I hope she paired this up with a cute skirt.

That denim jacket is precious. I want it. Also, Oh Soo looks like he means serious business in this coat. I love you Jin Sung but you just paled in comparison.

Brace yourself for this look! Why are they only throwing us these cute Oh Young outfits at the end of the series? But I shan’t complain. The blue coat just made this look very spring-perfect.

Easily my favorite Oh Young outfit. The full-skirted coat cinched at the waist and the dress she wore underneath look exquisite in this scene. Is it just me or did you guys also have trouble breathing at the beauty of this scene? I mean the cherry blossoms! The lighting! Perfect.

Oh Young’s coat is from a company called Mine.

    Editor’s Thoughts:

While this drama has garnered massive ratings in South Korea, I can’t bring myself to rave about it. I loved the drama in the beginning but my interest quickly faded by the 6th episode or so. It dragged in the middle and half the time I find myself confused with the story line, particularly Oh Soo’s gambling story line (who owed money to who?).

But the acting is superb. Even the rookies (Jung Eun Ji) did a great job.

Fashion-wise, it is teeming with designer clothes, Oh Young’s particularly. But it also has a nice balance of mainstream (read: more affordable) fashion like what Eun Ji wears.

The drama also gave birth to an iconic men’s style. Oh Soo’s long colored coats and suspenders are so unique, it resonated in variety shows (I’m looking at you Running Man guys who did a parody of this in their show).

What about you guys? Did you love it? Which character is the most fashionable for you?
