It’s Okay, That’s Love Episode 15 Fashion Review
Man, this episode. I swore to myself nothing else will faze me in this drama. But by the end of it, I’m an emotional mess!
A few more pieces of the puzzle were introduced to the scene and gave Jae Yeol’s past clarity, if not finality. And in just a few minutes, the drama managed to let us in, deeper, into the life of not only Jae Yeol but also his mom. I couldn’t stop the goosebumps from showing up.
Jae Yeol has been a stellar patient so far – taking his meds, not pitching a fit about his confinement.
Jae Beom was allowed to visit. Jae Beom said he couldn’t muster enough sympathy for Jae Yeol’s plight – not when he himself just spent 14 years in prison for being wrongly accused of murder and his younger brother not speaking up in his behalf. He beat Jae Yeol up to vent his anger.
In some way, this is the absolution Jae Yeol needs. He has been suffused with so much pent-up guilt that he welcomed the beating.
As expected, Kang Woo’s still there, keeping a close eye on Jae Yeol but not speaking.
Ji Hae Soo, who previously got an edict not to get involved in Jae Yeol’s case sneakily got reports from Young Jin. She overheard Young Jin tell Dong Min on the phone that Jae Yeol is none the worse for wear after the beating. He seemed carefree, even, like he was waiting for his brother to give him the drubbing he deserves.
Ji Hae Soo is in another slogan shirt. That “surf” word emblazoned over the white shirt is more than enough to make a statement.

The visit also did Jae Beom some good. He’s eating what his mom prepares now.
Hae Soo is still forbidden to show herself in front of Jae Yeol so she has been monitoring him from afar.

When Jae Yeol’s mom came to visit him, he told her wants to go home. He’s going to be a good patient and he will take his medicine. He just doesn’t want to stay in the hospital any longer because this is causing Hae Soo too much pain. He doesn’t want to be a burden to her anymore. Besides, he mused, he’s no longer seeing Kang Woo – a lie, since Kang Woo’s somewhere in the room.
So the mom heeded Jae Yeol’s request, despite Young Jin’s objections.
Jae Yeol also formally broke up with Hae Soo before being discharged from the hospital. Hae Soo pleaded with him not to go but he got his way.

Kang Woo went with him. He’s still riding his bicycle.
As for the Hong Dae apartment residents, they found out about Jae Yeol and were more than ready to comfort Hae Soo.
This is one of the things that make this drama so strikingly refreshing. The friendship is palpable. Even without words, they communicate their feelings quite efficiently.

But of course, Jae Yeol’s not really that uncaring about the whole situation. He looks at the contents of his camera with Hae Soo in it.
After disobeying the hospital rules, Hae Soo got two months suspension from hospital activities.
Hae Soo’s top is from Comme des Garcons.
Jae Yeol seems very normal on the outside. The three are cohabiting for the first time in years. It’s obviously making the mom happy and is also somehow giving Jae Yeol some peace.
Dong Min and Soo Gwang also came to check up on him.
Jae Beom complained about the humid weather so the mom volunteered to help wash and scrub his back. Jae Beom commented on his mom’s constant need to scrub. The mom said, yes, because of a past event, she has acquired the unusual habit. She said she and Jae Yeol feel into a pit of poop and since then, has felt the need to scrub things clean.
Jae Beom was clearly intrigued about the story so he asked more. The mom opened up. The day Jae Yeol found the bathroom that would turn out to be his refuge from his abusive father, he found his mom already hiding there. Together, they hid there until they can escape. They washed up their poop-covered bodies in the river. That’s the scene Jae Beom saw.
The mom said she wanted to cry right there and then because of their situation. But Jae Yeol laughed the situation out. If she just cried it out and asked Jae Yeol to do the same, would Jae Yeol be suffering from a mental illness now? She wondered out loud.
The mom’s story also brought to light a few things on Jae Beom. It’s that particular scene he was lamenting over and that particular scene which brought about his loneliness. But now that he knows the other side to the story, he started warming up to his mom.
Of the three, Jae Beom seems to be the one who has better grasp on reality. He faces the brutality head on and gives his own dosage of brutality to cope. The mother and Jae Yeol has built up their own walls, and eventually built their own reality to protect them further.
Dong Min brought up the topic of Hae Soo and Kang Woo to Jae Yeol but he isn’t interested in discussing either. Meanwhile, Soo Gwang thanked Jae Yeol for making him the manager of the café and rewarded Jae Yeol with a kiss.
It’s mayhem in Hae Soo’s family. They all wanted her to leave Jae Yeol’s case alone and move on with her life. Easier said that done, mom. The mom decided to sell the restaurant so Hae Soo has money to go abroad.
Hae Soo couldn’t take the silence on Jae Yeol’s side anymore so she called him up and when he answered, just uttered her name and hung up. She let his phone ring again and hung up when he answered.
It’s a good tactic too because he got Jae Yeol’s attention. Hae Soo pleaded once again for Jae Yeol to see reality – that Kang Woo will appear once again after the call and Jae Yeol should see beyond him, to the discrepancies in Kang Woo’s existence.
Kang Woo did appear out of nowhere. Heeding Hae Soo’s advice, he looked for abnormalities in Kang Woo’s existence. He found it: Kang Woo’s heavily blistered, very bare feet.
He also remembered three years ago when he first saw him. Kang Woo introduced himself as a student in a particular grade. And now, when he asked him again, he is still in the same grade, eternally a student, never aging.
And he started to recollect those times he has seen Kang Woo. In every single one of them, Kang Woo’s barefoot.
Let’s take a moment to appreciate Hae Soo’s polished style. She’s in her usual high waisted pants outfit. And me being a fan of loafers, I’ve been loving Hae Soo’s penchant for loafers as of late.

Finally, Jae Yeol started asking himself: is Kang Woo just a reflection of his 16-year-old self? Is Kang Woo him? We see the workings of his mind with Kang Woo running and intersecting with the younger Jae Yeol.
He ran to Hae Soo’s place and finally told her he now understands that Kang Woo is just a figment of his imagination and that he really needs medical help.
It’s one of the finest moments in this drama. It was brilliantly executed. I feel a surge of pity towards the young Jae Yeol and Kang Woo.
Knowing what he knows now, Jae Beom has been a good boy to his mom. He even gave her the flowers he has been crafting in prison.

Jae Yeol spent the night at the Hong Dae apartment, supervised by Dong Min and Hae Soo. Now that the biggest obstacle is realized, Jae Yeol looks better.
He also agreed to be admitted to the hospital again.
It still surprises me how slender Gong Hyo Jin is. It’s very evident in this fitted sweater outfit. Her love for retro-inspired silhouettes is again clear in this outfit. Is it time to bring out all our plaid clothes already?

Her dress is from D’deMOO but I don’t think it’s available online.
Jae Yeol listened to Hae Soo’s advice and talked to Kang Woo the next time he sees him. He washed Kang Woo’s injured feet and put the new sneakers Hae Soo bought for Jae Yeol to give to Kang Woo.
Jae Yeol admitted Kang Woo is him and Kang Woo asked him if he should go already.
Jae Yeol saying goodbye to Kang Woo is like saying goodbye to friend who you know you’ll never see again. It’s heartbreaking to watch, especially since Kang Woo’s has been a constant presence in this drama. But it’s high time Jae Yeol forgives himself and puts his ghosts to rest, especially since he has the option of having a happy future with Hae Soo.
