It’s Okay, That’s Love Episode 1 Review
Jo In Sung from That Winter the Wind Blows and Gong Hyo Jin from The Master’s Sun in one drama? Throw in Running Man’s Lee Gwang Soo, Reply 1997 and 1994’s Sung Dong Il and EXO’s D.O into the picture and it sounds like a drama you should add to your weekly Kdrama marathon list.
The story started with Jang Jae Yeol (Zo In Sung) in the midst of a rowdy indoor pool party where he is the celebrant. He looks popular and cool and rich. While he’s kissing Lee Pool Ip (Yoon Jin Yi), a guy breaks in the party and started stabbing him with a fork.
Ji Hae Soo (Gong Hyo Jin), sets down cute luggage (that Cash or Check handcarry, that crossbody bag!) on the floor of a gorgeous apartment. She opens up the television and the news is all about the attack on Jae Yeol. He survived, don’t worry, and looks none the worse for wear. The attacker, Jang Jae Beom, who Jae Yeol called hyung before he passed out the day of the attack, was taken back to prison.

Everyone needs to have a hamartia in order for this drama to work, right? Jae Yeol has one: he keeps his bathroom under modern lock and key. How odd is that?
Hae Soo lives in the apartment earlier with Park Soo Gwang (Lee Gwang Soo) and Jo Dong Min (Sung Dong Il). Dong Min is supposed to appear at a talk show but bailed because his wife is in town. The show’s director, who is Hae Soo’s boyfriend, called her up so she can take Dong Min’s place. Hae Soo agreed, albeit reluctantly.
The boyfriend is the wandering sort, however. He fools around with one of the show’s crew, Hae Soo’s friend.
Ji Hae Soo’s style is very 9-5, but stylish, nonetheless. Nothing like a printed top to amp up an outfit.

The show is actually a debate between the writer Jang Jae Yeol and a psychiatrist to dissect the psychiatric implications of the books written by the former. Hae Soo disliked his arrogant attitude right away.
Remember when Kdrama guys first wore sneakers with their suits and everyone was like, what did I just see? Well, looks like Jae Yeol is creating a trend with his suit and sandals combo. The sloppy-savvy effect worked on him, IMO.
Han Gang Woo (EXO’s D.O.) is quite the big Jae Yeol fan. And seriously, an 88 shirt? Talk about reference to Wolf! Lol.
Soo Gwang and Dong Min watch the debate live on their smartphone and cheer on Ji Hae Soo, who is doing well in counteracting Jae Yeol.
Soo Gwang suffers from Tourette Syndrome, by the way, a neuropsychiatric disorder. Dr. Jo Dong Min treats him. The two has an obviously close relationship.
I do wonder if Hae Soo came into the show in her hospital shoes. Those white sneakers are cute but looked off against the formality of the rest of her outfit.
She made quite an impression on Jae Yeol, who is probably not used to dealing with such a sharp-witted woman.
Hang Gang Woo is not just a fan, he is also an aspiring writer. He wants Jae Yeol to read his recent novel, which he agreed to do but if it gets boring, it will go straight into the trash.
Jang Jae Yeol definitely looks like he rolled out of bed in his shirt, cheated by wearing a suit and then forgot to wear proper shoes. Lol.

Lee Young Jin is Ji Hae Soo’s colleague, also Dong Min’s ex-wife. This drama is getting harder and harder to summarize just because of the crazy connections between the characters. Lol.
A colleague teased Dong Min about his divorce with Young Jin. Dong Min took it against him and answered back. But the colleague is actually suffering from stomach cancer, which explains his behaviour earlier.
Meanwhile, Hae Soo hangs out with Soo Gwang at a bar. Jae Yeol, who she has avoided like the plague after the talk show, spotted her.
Meanwhile, Jae Yeol’s editor is having a major book crisis. Someone, Lee Pool Ip, Jae Yeol’s long-time lover, released a book that is obviously a plagiarized version of Jae Yeol’s recently released book.
Jae Yeol pursued Hae Soo, even if the latter brushes him off. Suddenly, a guy came out of nowhere, attacked Hae Soo and told her he won’t go back to the hospital.

The guy is actually a former patient of Hae Soo’s. He stopped taking his meds because of the side effects so he is now having episodes. Jae Yeol helped her chase the patient down.
They eventually found the patient and he was taken to the hospital by the ambulance that Hae Soo called earlier. She was left behind with Jae Yeol. He noticed her arm seems to be hurt. The kick from the patient earlier hurt Hae Soo’s arm. She passed out and Jae Yeol carried her.
