Flower Boy Next Door/ My Flower Boy Neighbor Review Episode 1: The story revolves around the life of an anti-social girl, Ko Dok Mi (played by Park Shin Hye) and her flower boy neighbors.
She spends all her time inside the confines of her rented apartment. She earns her living by writing and her hobbies range from conserving water and energy and peeping on her cute neighbor.
Her neighbor, Han Tae Joon (played by Kim Jung San) lives with his dog in an apartment building opposite of Ko Dok Mi’s. He is not aware that Ko Dok Mi frequently checks him out through binoculars.
Ko Dok Mi’s life is about to be altered by Enrique Keum, a young game maker who is the younger brother of Han Tae Joon. After spending time in Spain, he comes home to play cupid to his unrequited love, Yoon Seo Young (played by Kim Yoon Hye) and his brother.
Ko Dok Mi was forced to go out of her apartment. She gets to meet her other neighbors, friends Yoo Dong Hoon (played by Ko Gyung Pyo) and Oh Jin Rok (played by Kim Ji Hoon). These two are aspiring cartoonists. There’s also her Japanese neighbour, Watanabe (played by Kouki Mizuta).
Things start to veer away from her usual routine when Enrique Keum spotted Ko Dok Mi peeping from her window.
Flower Boy Next Door/ My Flower Boy Neighbor Fashion Recap Episode 1:
As much as I love an impeccably-dressed heroine, characters with outrageous fashion sensibilities keep me entertained. Park Shin Hye’s character in Flower Boy Next Door, Ko Dok Mi, is definitely one of them.
She takes layering to the next level with this mori girl/hobo-like attire. Why is she wearing so much clothing, you ask? She is thrifty to a fault, that’s why. She doesn’t like to use the heater, hence the excessive amount of clothing.
And here’s our male lead, Enrique Keum played by Yoon Si Yoon. I didn’t finish his drama Me Too, Flower so I’m kind of excited to see how his character in this drama pans out.
He doesn’t dress like a gaming geek, that’s for sure. He warms up for the winter in this ensemble – button down top, two layers (?) of sweater, a sleek coat and chunky knitted scarf. I’m not too sure about the socks worn over the pants though but he is owning the look!

I do love leather backpacks on guys. It adds more style to the ensemble, don’t you think?

And then there’s Enrique’s love, Yoon Seo Young, played by Kim Yoon Hye. She’s in the same drama as Park Shin Hye again. If you watched Heartstrings/You’ve Fallen For Me, she played Shin Hye’s nemesis.
Her style seems to be a fusion of girly and rock. She wore this beautiful pristine white lace dress and rocked it with lace up ankle boots.
And then there are the two other flower boys next door, Oh Jin Rok played by Kim Ji Hoon and Yoo Dong Hoon, played by Ko Gyung Pyo. They cartoonist/graphic artists, I think, but the way they dress, you wouldn’t think so. Look at Jin Rok in his oversized coat and Dong Hoon in that black jacket paired with red skinny pants. Faultless!
I sense another F4 forming. Enter the Japanese cutie, Watanabe, played by Kouki Mizuta. I’m pretty sure I have seen this guy in the innumerable Japanese dramas I have seen before. I can’t think straight though because he’s just too adorable!
The cinematography of this drama is just breathtaking! These scene, in particular, is very beautiful. Dok Mi blends in well with her autumn backdrop in this trench coat. The shape is flattering and the whole styling is cute. Her coat is from Tomboy.

Look who is back for a cameo! It’s Jung Rok from A Gentleman’s Dignity!
Dok Mi definitely collects padded coats with fur collar. She paired up her mori girl-like ensemble with this arctic coat from Pony:
