Pinocchio Episode 3 Review
The story so far: Ki Ha Myeong came from a middle-class family – loving parents and an older brother (Ki Jae Myeong), who, like him, is somewhat a genius. His father, a head fire fighter, takes pride in his sons’ brains and often brags about them to his co-workers.
But their Hallmark lives are about to change. Their dad led his crew to fight a burning building. One of the workers told them there are still two more guys trapped inside. So the dad spearheaded the rescue. But the two guys were actually the perpetrators of the fire and they were the first ones to get out. Too late because the dad and his team are already inside. A blast from the inside killed them.
When the investigations are going through, the worker who told the fire fighters were still in the building gave a false testimony. He said he already told the leader there were no people inside but he still insisted on going. And to top it all off, his body has not been found. One of their neighbors, a guy who has Pinocchio syndrome, which pretty much means he can’t lie without hiccupping, saw someone that looks a lot like Ki Ha Myeong’s dad. He told everyone about it and they thought he abandoned his team and is now escaping punishment.
The story was sensationalized by the media and they were now hounding Ki Ha Myeong’s family. His mom got depressed and she took Ha Myeong to a nearby cliff to watch the fireworks but took her son with her when she leapt to her death.
Ha Myeong lived but was taken in by an old man, who mistook him for his son who drowned in the same ocean years ago. The old man is Choi In Ha’s grandfather. To protect the old man, they agreed to let Ha Myeong take the place of In Ha’s dead uncle, Choi Dal Po.
Ha Myeong hates reporters for the false reports they said that led to his father’s bad reputation and his mom’s death. He particularly hates Song Cha Ok, a ruthless reporter, who turned out to be In Ha’s estranged mom.
In Ha and Ha Myeong grew up together, went to the same high school together and lived together. A circumstance in school made In Ha decide to become a reporter.
