You Who Came From The Stars / Man From Another Star Episode 14 Fashion Review:
My feels! This drama has become my weekly panacea! After that monumental cliffhanger that is last week’s episode with Cheon Song Yi hovering over the air, protected only by a tampered harness and Do Min Joon on the verge of owning up to Jae Kyung’s crimes, all I can ever think about is getting by the early days of this week enough to make it to Thursday. Okay, exaggeration.
The episode started with a few scene recaps from the last few episodes. And then this scene.
As expected, the wires gave out and Song Yi, after hitting the wall when the first wire broke, went into a plunge. She was taken to a hospital, unconscious. News of her accident travelled fast and the reporters are quick to spread it online.
We assume Do Min Joon heard of Song Yi’s accident because suddenly he’s in Jae Kyung’s office, being more aggressive than usual and seething with anger. He teleports Jae Kyung to the building’s rooftop and lets him dangle in the air.
Flashback one week before the accident:
Another one of Jae Kyung’s minions purposefully bumps into Attorney Jang so he can put a bug in his bag.
Jae Kyung, who also takes to voyeurism as easily as he takes to murder, overheard Attorney Jang and Do Min Joon’s convo including this conversation when the attorney is cautioning Min Joon not to kill Jae Kyung.
Hui Kyung overheard his parents talking about Jae Kyung. He heard his mom tell his dad that Jae Kyung’s ex-wife once called him (Jae Kyung) scary. She, herself, feels ill-at-ease around his own son, saying he’s too calculated and perfect. She hinted something about Jae Kyung’s childhood – a past experience that could be the reason why Jae Kyung’s hobby these days is murdering people.
But let’s talk about Hui Kyung’s style. He’s in his uniform (again), which consists of a turtleneck knitted sweater, a pair of pants and a trench coat.
Park Hae Jin’s Coat is from Gucci, his turtleneck sweater is from Time Homme.
He took his prying to the next level and went to the mental institution he saw in his brother’s car’s navigation system. And can we take a moment to appreciate how Hui Kyung shed off his turtlenecks to wear this printed shirt under a black sweater? Okay, moment over.
Park Hae Jin’s coat is from:
His sweater is from Sandro Homme and his shirt is from Greyhound & Playhound.
Meanwhile, Sun Young must have been extra frazzled by Song Yi’s participation in Se Mi’s movie because she has been making demands to President Ahn. She wants more staff to hover around Song Yi in the shooting scene, just to show who’s the real star of the movie. Insecure much, mom?
Se Mi, on the other hand, is picking more daring silhouettes to deck herself in (or her stylists did). This boxy coat has an avant-garde feel to it, something that is far from her usual aesthetic. I love its structured silhouette though.
Sun Young echoed Se Mi’s style for this day. She wore a similar cut of coat, albeit in a quilted leather material. One hardly notices that though with her statement, in-your-face, earrings.
Word got to Jae Kyung (He has an insider in the police station! Why am I not surprised?) that the detectives are planning to give his vacation house a visit so he got his army of servants to clean the place spotless and place incriminating evidences against Do Min Joon.
Even this guy was quick to confirm that it was Do Min Joon who accompanied Yoo Ra when she came to visit. This easy progress was suspicious to the detectives.
I thought this scene when Do Min Joon made his photo in the museum vanish was too quick for comfort during the last episode. But it turned out there was more to it. He said he has been living on earth without much thought about time. He has plenty of time to spare. But now, because of Song Yi, time has suddenly become indispensable to him.
Kim Soo Hyun’s shoes are from Alexander McQueen.
See Do Min Joon creepily watching over a sleeping Song Yi. I’m not really THAT creeped out though. Is that a bad thing?
Also, I worried I won’t have much to report, fashion-wise, since our resident fashionista, Cheon Song Yi, is fighting for her life in the hospital and all. But thank you YWCFTS writers, stylists for the flashbacks!
This home outfit is far from her usual ones (you know, the matchy matchy ones she prefer?). She’s clad in a gossamer tank top and what looks like a pair of navy pants.

Awakened briefly during the night, she put on this gorgeous embellished coat over her sparse ensemble and pensively looked at the sky. She mused that Do Min Joon should not have told her he’s from the stars because now, every time she looks at the cloudless sky, the stars remind her of him. Do Min Joon was listening to her next door.

They say the way you dress is a reflection of your mood. In that case, Do Min Joon probably felt like this day was the pits as he opted for an austere, all-black ensemble. It’s very Parisian-chic though so I can’t complain much.
It’s not much of a comeback but that didn’t deter Song Yi from trying to look her best. What better way to put on a brave face than to wear a gold-tone lamé clothing, eh? She got a call from the people on set, asking her to show up, bare-faced and in simple clothing because she’s going to do a lot of action scenes. Meh.
Cheon Song Yi’s Top is the:
Lanvin Dream Metallic Tee, $1535.00
Mom was aghast that Song Yi looks un-made and in a simple shirt and pants getup. Really mom, Song Yi couldn’t look plain to save her life! You, on the other hand…what’s the deal with that separated turtleneck? They shouldn’t leave her with a pair of shears!
There’s the powdery pink mess of a coat again. It’s a wonder Do Min Joon didn’t cringe away from the mom’s theatrically girly attire, him being a fan of monochrome and all.
Mom noticed Song Yi and Do Min Joon’s cold treatment of each other though. Song Yi asked DMJ if she can take the elevator first because it would be uncomfortable to be in it with him. In the elevator, her mom asked her what’s amiss and she flat out said she’s in love with Do Min Joon, confessed to him about her feelings and got rejected in the process.
Details of Song Yi’s outfit are in the previous recap.
Despite Attorney Jang’s serious objections, Do Min Joon got his way. The detectives listened to DMJ’s confession but surprisingly, they weren’t that convinced.

In the set, ex-manager longingly looks at Song Yi. He would have taken a hot pack to Song Yi if Se Mi didn’t intercept him. On Song Yi’s side, mom fumes over this blatant show of Se Mi’s superiority over them.
See the details of Song Yi and Se Mi’s outfits in the previous recap.
Her ruffled feathers are soothed almost right away because in comes Hui Kyung with a van containing a feast prepared for the staff. Mom just couldn’t contain her glee while Se Mi and mom looks on in a mixture of astonishment and anger.
Funny enough, Hui Kyung matches Do Min Joon today with his all-black garb. To be honest, I’ve never really given much thought to Hui Kyung’s feelings for Song Yi, despite him being in love with her for years. I feel like he’s not much of a competition for Min Joon. But this moment really swayed me. He’s a great guy. And in another world, on a different time, in different circumstances, I would like to see him end up with Song Yi.
Park Hae Jin’s Coat is from:
Hui Kyung finds a familiar face in the crowd though – his brother’s secretary, a.k.a. the guy who is doing all the dirty work for Jae Kyung. He finally remembers who he is and got a bad vibe about his presence. Sure enough, Song Yi’s wire comes loose and she plunges to her near-death. Hui Kyung saves her in time but got injured in the process.
Both were taken to the hospital. Jae Kyung immediately got into surgery while Song Yi had to wait because the hospital doesn’t have stock of her rare blood type. Yoon Jae joins his mom as they both got tested for blood compatibility.
Bok Ja and these two guys found out about Song Yi’s accident online. They screamed in unison at the two girls who walked in cursing Song Yi and laughing at her plight.
Min Koo, Song Yi’s dad, also heard about her accident. He rushed to the hospital where he met Mi Yeon and Yoon Jae.
During the break, the detective told Yoo Seok about Song Yi’s accident. Do Min Joon snatched the phone from his hand to read the news. After checking it out, he ran out of the room, startling the two detectives.
The other detective went after him but was flabbergasted to see that he’s nowhere to be found. Mystified, he had the CCTV footages checked. Now all of them are curious as to how Do Min Joon seemed to disappear from thin air.
Min Joon teleported himself to Jae Kyung’s office after visiting Song Yi and checking her condition out. This is the first time we see Min Joon riled enough to abandon his self-possession, carelessly making a scene in Jae Kyung’s office. But then again, he has long abandoned his self-possession where Song Yi is concerned.
Jae Kyung was confident Min Joon won’t kill him. Thanks to the bug, he knows that if Min Joon kills him, he will die too. But Min Joon lets him drop from the roof. He stopped his fall a few feet off the ground. When Jae Kyung came to, an angry Min Joon was standing over him. He threatened Jae Kyung that if he ever does something like this again, he will take everything from him.
Song Yi’s surgery went well, thanks to the father’s matching blood. As long as her breathing goes back to normal in two days, she’ll be fine, the doctors said.
Song Yi, just like Min Joon when he was unconscious, was dreaming of better days. Her dreams took us back to her youth when she was just a fledgling actress. To give her courage, she always says “dad”. But now, right before she jumped off before the accident, she mentioned one name: Do Min Joon.
She also dreamed of days spent with Min Joon. Even in her dreams, she remains a strong fashion force. That 60s-inspired shift dress is one I would love to own. And see how she wears her crossbody bag? Strategically positioned over her hips, just below her waist? Apparently, that’s the new trend in wearing the crossbody bag now. You are welcome.

Why is this scene so full of heart? Even without words, they managed to convey two people deeply in love. I’m buying it. All of it.
Cheon Song Yi’s dress and cardigan are both from Chanel.
While Song Yi’s dad sleeps in the couch (the mom insists he stay until Song Yi wakes up), Do Min Joon came to visit her. He plants a kiss on her forehead. Just aww. Someone save me from my feels!
Today’s epilogue is not a flashback but a continuation of the forehead kiss scene.
As Do Min Joon was about to leave, Song Yi awakened and clasped his hand.
