Bel Ami/Pretty Man Fashion Recap and Review Episode 2:
Last episode, Dokgo Ma Te had to deal with his mom’s passing. During the last few minutes of her mom’s life it was Hong Yoo Ra who was hovering around. She was able to record the “password” that Ma Te needs. She told Ma Te that he has to stick with her if he wants to know the password.
As a professional Dokgo Ma Te fan girl, Kim Bo Tong has been earning money to buy Ma Te a new car. I don’t really laud her choices in life but you have to admit, she does make an interesting character.
Kim Bo Tong’s outfits are very eclectic. She mixes and matches prints like there’s no tomorrow. As a whole, her outfits are too crazy to be worn by more sensible people but the individual pieces are actually covet-worthy. For instance, I wouldn’t mind having this cutesy animal-printed hoodie.
Dokgo Ma Te went back to her girlfriend (I don’t know what else to call her) but doesn’t explain his situation to her.
A flashback of what happened in the hospital. Hong Yoo Ra recording the “password” spoken by Ma Te’s mom.
Here’s Ma Te sporting a leather jacket. Nothing like a snazzy leather jacket to make a basic shirt and trousers look ten times more stylish.
Ma Te went to Hong Yoo Ra’s house, which is a sprawling mansion situated in a very picturesque place (major house envy here), to learn more about who she is and what she is doing stalking him these past few months.
I don’t really care much about Hong Yoo Ra’s clothing options. She is more the classic girl who chooses understated pieces but spices them up with some animal prints here and there.
It turned out that Dokgo Ma Te is the illegitimate child of a wealthy conglomerate. Unfortunately for him, his newfound wealth also comes with a stepmom who despises illegitimate children and anyone who might threaten her position in the company. Hong Yoo Ra shares her connection with Ma Te, saying that she was once the wife of the chairman’s son. But because of the mom, she was kicked out of the house, leaving behind her daughter.
Ma Te’s girlfriend frequents this place. It’s fortune-telling business run by a woman known as the electric fairy.
Ubiquitous jewellery. Check. Fur coat. Check. Oversized sunglasses. Check. Luxe clothing, bag and shoes. Check. Typical rich woman in her 30s or 40s attire.
This is the electric fairy. She supposedly is an expert in telling the future. And from her list of clientele, she seems to be doing a great job out of it. She charges an exorbitant amount of money for consultation and lucky trinkets.
What are your thoughts on 3D florals on clothes? Are these appliqués-laden clothes some of the things you’d want to wear?
Dokgo Ma Te loves his suits.
If there’s one thing that can be said about Kim Bo Tong’s style, it is that she is fearless. How many people can wear a hamburger sweater with bokeh-printed leggings and get away with it? Yep, fearless.
Dokgo Ma Te signs up Kim Bo Tong for a task. At this point, I’m starting to loathe Ma Te. He unscrupulously uses Bo Tong’s adoration for him to his advantage. If that isn’t the makings of a professional jerk, I don’t know what is. But we’ll just have to wait and see how he reforms in this drama.
Bo Tong throws a red sweater over her hamburger disaster of an outfit and then slings over a cutesy Russian doll-inspired handbag.

The job that Ma Te has for Bo Tong? It involves selling thousands of socks! Hong Yoo Ra said in order for him to get to the top, he has to start from the bottom.
I love this red top. The neck has this unique pleated design. Very Victorian vintage.
As if the chandelier earrings aren’t enough, she donned a silver animal-skinned top. If the earrings didn’t clue you up that she is rich, the silver top will.
It ain’t Pretty Man without them capitalizing on Jang Geun Suk’s, err, prettiness! He looked great in this black zipper-adorned sweater with a printed shirt underneath. No jeans for Ma Te. Just trousers.
Kim Bo Tong started selling the socks on the streets. But this is illegal in this part of South Korea so her stuff was confiscated by the police and she was taken to the precinct.
Bo Tong looks a tad tame and normal today with her sweater and peplum pants combo. The navy coat tied it all together.

Her bag is the Agiraboboni Kiss Kiss bag she also wore in the first episode.
Dokgo Ma Te bailed her out, all the while fending off the smitten policewoman.
The sweater and shirt combo he was wearing earlier? He threw on this gorgeous jacket over it.

After being bailed out, Bo Tong spent the night in Ma Te’s place. Not unexpectedly, she was ecstatic.
The next day, Dokgo Ma Te tried to shoo her out of his home but Bo Tong feigned a fever to stay longer.
Ma Te is looking h-o-t in this bomber jacket that he wore with a printed shirt and a pair of trousers.

After lurking around Ma Te’s place, Kim Bo Tong finally had an idea to sell the socks in what looks like the iconic playground in Hongdae.
This outfit is all kinds of crazy layering. First there’s the vintage style dress. And then she threw a thick vest over it. She topped that off with a long coat. Does anyone appreciate her eclectic style?

Apparently, there is. This is David Choi. He notices Bo Tong selling stuff and bought the hat with the hair glued to it. They both share an uncanny taste in stuff.
