With the parade of gorgeously-styled womenswear in kdramas, it’s easy to overlook their male counterparts. But they make up the other half of the stylish drama spectrum so let’s not to fail to note what’s keeping these gents easy on the eyes whilst moving us with their Kdrama one-liners.
We narrowed down these 6 menswear staples that are usually not missing in every Kdrama male character’s wardrobe:
This is a no-brainer. These guys love casual jeans. They prefer the dark-colored variety. I don’t often find guys wearing light-colored denim jeans in Kdramas, for some reason.
But aside from dark jeans, a lot of Kdrama male characters also love wearing colored jeans. Case in point: Kim Tan’s numerous colored jeans in The Heirs.

I mean, is there refuting the essence of backpacks in Kdramas? Whether the guy is a student or a young professional, the backpack is still often the most preferred mode of carrying stuff around. Can’t blame these guys. It’s roomy and easy to lug around.
Tip: Always wear both straps of your backpack for extra Kdrama actor cool factor.
Maison Martin Margiela Backpack, 1045,08 €
Balenciaga Backpack, 897,54 €
Jackets are always a layering staple in Kdramas. These days, they usually prefer the moto or the bomber kind. We definitely love us some leather jackets!

Balenciaga Bomber Jacket, 815,57 €
4. Knitwear (cardigans and sweaters)
What’s a Kdrama without knitwear-loving guys? Just read our The Heirs archive and you can already have your fill of knitwear for men. Kim Tan loves a fine-knitted sweater over a collared shirt. Do Min Joon likes to pair a closed cardigan with a basic shirt and Cha Jae Wan keeps his cardigan unbuttoned for a casual flair.

Comme des Garcons Cardigan, 230,33 €
5. Power Suits
In the world of CEOs, general managers, executives and chaebols, power suits will never go scarce. Some wear it with a printed shirt, others keep the look interesting with a quirky tie. Some just skip the tie altogether and keep their collared shirts unbuttoned.

You’d think that a semi-formal attire or a work garb will warrant a sleek pair of leather shoes but no. More often than not, these guys choose a casual pair of sneakers to cap off their look. Whether it’s for school, for date or for work, these guys won’t think twice of wearing sneakers with just about anything – even power suits!
Dolce & Gabbana Sneakers, 241,80 €
